Discover these fun things to do in CT

CT is known for its rich history, quaint atmosphere, and the beauty that comes with all four seasons. If you live in CT, you may take for granted some of the amazing places and activities that you can experience right in your own backyard. If you’re thinking about moving here, you may be wondering what fun things there are to do.

Either way, save this list for later so you can start crossing each item off your bucket list!

Book a Public Cruise

First up, is one of my personal favorites –book a cruise. Whether it’s the Maritime Aquarium or the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat, you’ll have a great opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and unwind out on the water. Visit the Maritime Aquarium website to get a full list of upcoming cruises scheduled for the warm months ahead!

Visit the CT WINE Trail

Next up, visit the many stops on the CT Wine Trail. No matter what style of wine you prefer, there’s a stop on the trail that’s right for you! The CT Wine Trail allows you the chance to stamp your wine passport at each winery, for the chance to win awesome prizes! My husband and I completed the Winter Wine Trail right before Covid hit, and I won a free bottle of wine! Getting the chance to win prizes, while trying so many types of wine, is a win-win in my book!

Some of my favorites on the trail:

Sunset Meadows in Goshen: This is my all-time favorite CT winery because they don’t have a single wine I dislike. Their Cayuga White, Root 63, Majestic, and Shades are all my top choices that you have to try!

Paradise Hills Vineyard in Wallingford: My favorites from their selection are Temptation and Notre Di Amore. But, the best part of this winery is their beautiful atmosphere and the live music that is offered every weekend.

Explore Local Parks & Beaches

Lastly, some of the best things that CT has to offer are its parks and beaches. Whether you prefer a beach or the mountains, CT offers you the chance to experience both.

Guiffrida Park in Meriden: This park offers multiple trails with different difficulty levels for all types of hikers! Just be careful, I once took the wrong step on our way down and started sliding down in front of a crowd of people…watch your step!

Silver Sands Beach in Milford: This is a public beach with free parking and newly renovated bathrooms. It’s one of my favorite spots in the state because it’s usually not super crowded and has great views!

As we head into the warmer months ahead, you may be looking for ways to get out and enjoy everything that our state has to offer. Give these spots on my list a try, and let me know what you think!
